Kayaking Espiritu Santo Island, Baja California Sur

Kayaking Espiritu Santo Island, Baja California Sur ⠀ Here’s a #fbf to two years ago, when we woke up to the beautiful sight of this magical island during AdventureWeek Baja Sur. ⠀ For the first activity of the day, our group was broken into two parties: the scuba divers and the kayakers. You might guess which party I was in thanks to this photo. ⠀ We were picked up from aboard the @Uncruise Adventures’ Safari Endeavour by @bajaoutdooractivitiesboa and taken to a nearby beach of the island to prepare for paddling. ⠀ Given the nature of the trip, we only got to kayak a small part of the island, but it was more than enough to highlight how different it feels to do so like this instead of on a boat. You’re active and choosing your own path, the connection to the sea and the land feels much more intimate; the mobility you have gives you the chance to get very close to the towering cliffs before you and to the imposing energy they expel. ⠀ I still haven’t had the chance to do it, but just from imagining doing the full multi-day tour kayaking around the island to be in close contact with all of its diverse landscapes and exploring it a little bit during the campings makes me very excited to try that. Now that’s in my bucket list for this year for sure.
